Eddie
Bauer Clothing
Eddie
Bauer is outdoor style clothing and accessories. Beginning
in Seattle in 1920 by Eddie Bauer (1899–1986) with $25
the company that bears his name initially sold only recreational
and wilderness gear, for the outdoorsman of course. In 1928
Eddie Bauer nearly froze to death, being innovative, he created
what would become perhaps the most famous of all his products
quilted down parka. The down parka has since become synonymous
with winter wear in the United States.
Both
Eddie Bauer clothing and equipment has been donned to Mt.
Everest, but in the 1970s the company was sold, and concurrently
changed its focus to "casual lifestyle" items such
as cashmere blazers and home furnishings to appeal to reflect
the same affluent adult customer base which made him so popular
in the 20’s. In 2001, the company held more than six
hundred stores around the globe and is generating enormous
revenues while competing with Gap, Old Navy etc. But while
the competition heats up Eddie Bauer’s flame still burns,
hotter than ever.
